Logonun tam ortasından geçen çizgi yer-hava arakesitini temsil etmektedir. Burada, MT frekans bandındaki EM dalgalar deplesman akımı ile yayıldıkları boşluktan, iletkenlik akımı ile yayılacakları yer ortamına geçmektedir. Üst yarı duzlemde EM alanin kaynağının gözle görülebilir durumu olan kutup ışıkları (aurora) fotoğrafı bulunmaktadır. Bu EM olay, hava-yer düzlemindeki bir manyetik alan bobini tarafindan algılanmaktadır. Alt yarı düzlemdeki renkli kısımda ise ters-çözüm sonucunda hesaplanmış özdirenç dağılımı verilmiştir. Bu şekil yeraltının EM konusunu çalışan yerbilimciler tarafından nasil betimlendiğini ifade etmektedir.
